| Hi, I am thinking of buying a project 1996 Polaris Scrambler 400 2 wheel drive. The guy says he bought it as a project and he does not have the time to finish. The water pump seal blew and messed up the crank bearings. Here is what he wrote: "yes, you are going to need the gasket sets and possibly a piston. about the crank i am not sure i never herd about them bending and i have done cranks before. bearings i may be able to get because my dad owns a bearing bussiness. if you do most of the work i don't see it being much more then$ 300 tops to have a great running atv. the tires and rims alone along with the brand new head is alot of money. like i said in the ad i also have the manuel. i am around nights or on the weekend and you are welcome to look at it. i do have to get rid of it cause i need they money and i jsut doint have the time i thought i would to be able to fix it.. i will take offers but i don't want to loose money on the deal. there is a titile that comes with it and the origianl book." He wants $700 but I don't think it is worth that much. Is it worth the hastle. I know I have read in some threads that people have bent cranks and had a ton of trouble with rebuilding polaris quads. Can anyone give me some comments and sugestions? Has anyone done this job before? Thanks, Chris |
