Just go by a manual. That is the best thing you can do. Every motor has its wierd things that will screw things up. I could not tell you exatly how to put it together but you get a manual and it shows step by step.

good luck

i have a manuel but it does not cover splitting the crank the only thing it shows in regards to bearings is replacing the outer sets it shows how to pull the brgs off each end of crank . if i took it apart i would have marked it but as it sits i have a crank in a box lol!!

your best bet is to find a shop to do it, un less you have a 50ton press and a truing stand. the crank has to be trued, i think the service limit is around .005 runout. any more then that and your going to tear your new bearings up and be right back where you are now. also thoes motors were known for sucking base gaskets out of them, you can get a copper one from an after market company.

funny you mentioned base gaskits that is what happened to this thing bought it off a friend went 10 miles and blew it uptore it down and that is what happened to it was going to put a piston in it and a jug figured i'd split the case and clean it up found a brg on the crank rough a friend says he knows a guy that will put new brgs on for $150 so i give it to him takes like 3 weeks to hear from the guy and he says i owe him $750 so i freek and go to get it and it is not even done so i took my parts and leave .
i do have a press i am a tranny mechanic and have one at my shop just not sure how true i can make it or the orientation of it??

any other things i should do to this engine while i have it apart for reliability not looking to make it a racer just a good reliable machine?

The middle cylinder gets the bigger jet because it runs hotter being that it has a hot cylinder on both sides. I believe correct me if I am wrong. Not sure however what the stock jetting should be.

I think its the PTO (clutch side) cylinder that gets the bigger jet. It has the most load on it and I know for a fact that its the PTO side on twin cylinder models. For a liquid cooled triple the middle would run the coolest because it doesnt have the weight of a flywheel or the weight of a clutch spinning on it. I would put the richest jet on the Clutch side. I know its like that on mine only i have say a 420 on PTO, 400 middle, and 410 MAG. I just used it as a theory and I put about 1500 miles on my sled so far and its still in one piece.
