Default Polaris Trailboss 250

Hey a question for a friend, he has a 1995 Trailboss 250 and now he hasa problem, when he first had a cracked piston he would hit the gas and it would die out right away and the engine hadn't been built in 3 years well now he has had it re-built brand new top end for about 3 months and he broke it in over a weeks time well its the same problem when you hit the gas it dies right out, is it possibly another friend ring or a cracked piston again? or any ideas thanks.....
