indy 500 carb problem

I spent my whole thanksgiving holiday installing a new motor in this pile. heres the rundown:

Installed and running on one cylinder. Problem: needle stuck shut in one carb.

Running on two cylinders but blowing gas out of overflow. Problem: needle now stuck open.

Install new needle and seat. problem: runs on one cylinder again because cable fell out of slide.

Idles great but dies out as soon as I touch throttle except when I tickle the choke then revs out fine. problem: I have no fricken clue.

Both carbs are clean, fuel pump works fine. judging by my having to use the choke to get off idle it must go lean soon as I touch the throttle? but yet runs awsome above 2000 rpm. I'm lost. Anyone have any ideas on this? Thank you.

I fixed the piece of shit. I don't know how either. I took the carbs apart again and found nothing wrong except one float tab was slightly bent(1/2 millimeter at best). I stuck it all back together and it runs perfect. This sled is getting the beating of its life this year for all the crap it has put me through this fall.
