Default Trail Boss 250 won't go into 4wd in Low?

I have a 1989' 250 Trail Boss that won't engage into 4x4 in low but engages fine in high ? I need some help as it's my plow and were having snow as we speak. About two months ago It started having problems with starting, ran fine then all the sudden it won't hardly start, seems flooded then once it finally starts and blows out all the smoke it runs fine . As long as it's warm it runs and starts great? I rebuilt the carb and it didn't help, new plug and din't help, has 120 psi compression but has never been rebuilt . Seems like the choke is stuck but I've checked it several times and the choke is fine, any suggestions?....all help appreciated!

Default 1989

I'm quite certain it's a 1989 Trail Boss 4x4 with High/Low and reverse. Switch on the handle bars activates the electric hubs......except in low ?

I guess everyone around here opted for the 400 when they wanted a 4wd back then anyway is the electrical panel still on the left side in front of the gas tank ? you can take a test meter and see if their is continuity between the gray and brown wires for the wheel magnets you can just take the gray wire loose to check each one if they both have continuity plug them back in check to make sure you have power gray + brown - in high and see if you have it in low for starters
