I'm still running the original chain/sprocket/transmission/engine on my 1998 Trail Boss 250 two-stroke. I need a new carb, though. They are what they are... Automatic, but highly reliable.
BTW, I have the papers that came with my ATV when I got it new in 1998, and it says the carburetor on the Trail Boss has bigger jets than the Trail Blazer, but it weighs a little more. But, the Trail Boss runs better than the Trail Blazer stock for stock. Don't underestimate them, though. They run exactly how they were meant to. I think they came from the factory with 22 or 25 horsepower, and that's how they run. Pretty quick (considering weight/tranny) up to 50-55 mph. I've also used mine to haul wagon loads of mulch and wood (17 cubic foot wagon).
This Polaris was built TOUGH. Very reliable. Seen many, many hours of WOT. |
