Default Clutch fell off snowmobile

So, my brother called me and told me he was doing a couple laps around his house with his wifes sled when it stopped moving. He openeed the hood and the bolt holding the clutch on broke off, thus the clutch fell off.

I can't remember the exact model(would have to call him back) but its about a 2000-2001 and its a two seater if that helps. I believe it has the 800cc engine.

So, is this an easy fix or should he just drop it off at the shop???

Do you need pics? Let me know.

Thanks
Steve

if the clutch bolt broke off the threaded end should still be in the crank.. (which would really suck to get out) i think you may need to buy a new crank... of it's not broke off inside the crank should be an easy fix)

You will have to drill a hole in the center of it and use an easy out to get the rest of the bolt out. Either that or drill it out to the threads and chase the threads with a tap. I would soak it down for a day with some penatrating oil to make it easier to get it out. You shouldnt have to replace the crank, it might not be the easiest thing to get out but it is posible.

If that bolt snapped off in there, you have my pity.

ive pulled one out before and it wasnt that bad, but I also had my clutch off about thre or four times a year. So the bolt came out pretty easy.

I'll call him again and see whether he can tell if it broke off inside of the crank or not.

And see if he can shoot a couple pics.

if there's any threads sticking out, just weld a nut on there and remove it.

i have a set of snapon left handed drill bits with easy out, if they are not sezed real hard the left handed will bite and remove them like a screw, they do work that way some times. had it that way on an exhaust bolt and ive broke off drill bits doing exhaust bolts too, that really really sucks cause u cant drill a drill bit.
