Default help with my cyclone

I Have Just Found An 87 Polaris Cyclone 250. I Am New To Owning A 2 Stroke And Have A Few Questions. It Seems This Motor Doesn't Have Reed Valves But Ported Pistons Is That Correct? I Did A Wet Test On The Cylinder And Went From 70 Lbs Of Compression To 105. Would This Explain Why The Motor Tachs Out Ok In Neutral But Has No Power Under Load. I Am Looking At Boring It And Replacing Rings And Piston To Solve This Problem. It Also Pops Out Of Forward But Stays In Reverse. Anyone Familiar With The Tranny's?

welcome to e2s, thats somewhat of a rare bike , id really like to you to post a pic of that quad. im not real familiar with the intake on one(cyclone) ,but id take your machine to a qualified shop and haver them do a compression test ,sounds odd the way you describe your testing that you did. its probably on the same topend since 87 and needs rebuilt thats all no biggie ,the tranny jumping might be somethin gas simple as the cvt needs adjusted? once again im not really well versed i nthese as they are not a common machine.

I Am A Car Mechanic. I Took My Comp. Tester And Checked The Compr. With A Dry Cylinder. It Was 70 Psi. Then I Added Oil To The Cyl. To Seal The Rings. And Tested Again And Got 105. I Think This Means The Rings Are Spent. The Belt Drive Seems To Work Ok Cause Reverse Is Perfect. But If I Put Into Forward, It Pops Out Under Load, I Have Been Told It Is A Lot Like The Trail Boss Or Trail Blazer, It Is Rare. Only Like 500 Ever Made.

well get that topend off and check it out sounds very low even with oil added ,as rare as it is i think there were alot more than 500 made . very unique though. doesnt sound like to much of a headache as far as the clutch and topend rebuild goes

Actually They Did Only Make Like 500 Of Them. Only In 87. It Came Out The Same Year As The Banshee And Couldn't Compete So The Dropped It. It Was Oil Injected But The Guy I Got It From Capped The Oil Pump And Premixed The Gas. Is That A Bad Thing Do You Think? Or Does It Make Any Difference.

I saw one of those on ebay awhile back, it looked pimp tight (it had a shitload of handmade upgrades and it was built up for ice racing)...this is the second one Ive seen so I assume they are really rare. Hell for $200 you cant beat that, even if it is a Polaris.

Oil Pumps will fail and then you will be stuck with no oil getting injected which leads to the motor blowing up. It is a good thing to have the oil injector capped off. Mostly all of the blaster guys do the oil injector block off.

It does look pretty weird but I'll take anything for $200 so it looks like you got a pretty good deal
