Default tranny mounting

so is anyone familiar with the older polaris transmission mounting system where the swingarm bolts rest in bosses in the tranny case. from what I can see, if your swingarm bushings go bad, the bolts move under impact and break the boss on the tranny case. I have a cyclone that fell victim to this fate. I found a tranny on ebay because mine also had internal problems and this case has the same issue. I welded the better case and am thinking that I just cut the swingarm bolts short to keep them away from the case. Seems that there are enough mounting bolts to keep the case still. Anyone have opinions or a better idea?
