| another fix for 1997 Polaris snowmobile reverse problems. My brother had a problem with grinding when he put his sled into reverse. Sometimes it would not go into reverse. Here is the fix. On the chaincase there is a small rectangle piece of metal near the top gear, it is rather flat. It is there so that when you put your sled in reverse, if the chain moves, this will stop it from sliding out to far on the gears. so my brother took a piece of metal about the same size and about 2 or 3 mm thick and welded it on. He has not had a problem since. Last edited by kid22isking; 03-10-2006 at 09:22 PM. |

My brother had the same problem you had. He welded a piece of metal the same size and about 2 or 3 mm think back on, it fixed all his problems. One way to know if you have the same problem is to look at your chain and see if it is wearing on one side. I hope this helps. |
