lol... ya.. i can't really use one anyways. for the past few years our winters have sucked... we only get enough snow to ride them a few times a year.. our winters warm up and cool down to much. sucks. oh and back on topic about this sport 400.. i was reading up about those cvt's some more.. on how you can adjust them for different rpms... and actually they say there are a lighter setup than gear driven trannies(not sure if thats true) but has anyone adjusted one of these? i actually could get access to a dyno to find out what rpm this thing is putting the power out and then tune that cvt to fit that.

yea its fun to tune these things. i was working on my kawi invader 340 and just by changing springs and weights you can change how high of rpm's the clutch kicks in at and now fast the clutch deploys, right now my invader is kicking in at 5500rpm and tops out at about 8grand. i did have a different one that kicked in at bout 3600 but it would bog out on me so when i really cracked it open fast. so i changed it to higher since i use this one for sno-cross and drag racing....not sure if there is any drag racing this year. ohh but i dont know about the less weight per gear, these clutches are heavy compared to the gears in a regular motor.

so how does this work when you say the clutch will kick in. will it rev freely up to 5,500 rpm or is it similar to like a car with a torque convertor where as the stall will let the rpm rise so far but the car will still move at a much lower rpm.

yea well yam2stroke....i wouldnt doubt if you even know how an auto clutch in a sled works. but anyway before the dumbass started saying shit about me. but yea the motor will rev freely and at a certain rpm the centrifical force (which is changed by the weights) builds up enough force to compress the spring which then compresses on the belt and then it then is basically like a sproket and chain deal with the secondary clutch. you can also change when the clutch engages by the stiffness of the spring. then and as the rpm's of the motor increases the more centrifical force increases causeing the spring to compress so the clutch cheves more making the belt ride higher on the primary clutch while on the secondary it is opening up so it rides lower so it is constantly changing the gearing. ohh and with the springs you can get dual rate springs, so that they compress really soft so the clutch engages at a low rpm and then after that it compresses really hard so it revs higher then. thats another thing you can change with the springs. so there....i might not know all the technical words but i know how they work and how to tune them.
