| yea times are not to good right now, and are slowly going down hill from here before they try to get a little better im sure. around here gas got to like 3.99$ a gallon but has yet to hit the $4 mark. but I recently got me a kickin deal on a real gas saver. bought me a kawasaki ninja 250 street bike that is averaging from 70 to 75 mpg. ive been riding it to work and it costs me on average about 3.80$ a day to go to work, I have about a 60 to 65 mile trip every day. in my little 4 cylinder truck, it was costing me about 10$ a day. but I kinda think with the way everything has been going since the early beginning of this year, that we might be coming onto a significant lifestyle change in our country in the next couple of years. im not sure how much of all the shit is true or not that ive been readying about oil supply shortages and increased demand in other countries, etc. some people think that there is enough oil to last for decades and decades, and some think we may be on the "downhill" from peak oil production. but the real fact about it, oil is not gonna last forever, and the bad part is, its pretty much the life blood of our country and others around the world and we would be pretty much screwed if we didnt have it because of how the majority of our lifestyles revolve around oil and gas and its products. I honestly think that now is the time to start working on and developing an alternate energy sorce to replace oil. our goverment and other leaders, quite literally, needs to get their heads out of their asses and realise this and start working on a solution, and maybe put aside for a change on trying to make millions of dollars and shit off of honest hardworking everyday people. there is technology out there with wind and hydro and solar energy that could be possibly used on a large organized scale, but right now people are more concerned about how much money they can stuff in their pockets than working on trying to make a better future for their children and grandchildren.

| All three of those engery sources your said are not 100% reliable, there isn't always wind, there isn't always sun and there isn't always moving water. The best source of power is Nuclear. Clean and efficeint. With that being said, I do think everyone should have solar panels on their home, it is free energy and it works great on a small scale. Hydro power is one of the oldest forms of creating energy, the old mills. This is also great for people/cities that are close to a good flowing river. I never really cared for wind, but it does work in some place but only on a very small scale. Another free energy source is Geo-thermal heating. |

| I am totaly for alternative energy sources. But im not for turning our back on oil. Make windmills, dams for power, nuclear or whatever. But we still need oil. |

| We need to use oil for our quad and nothing else. I want to ride my quad for a long time. |

| I can drive an electric car and power my house with solar/nuclear power. But I want my smoker to run till I die. |

| The world is far from an oil shortage. Right now I am attending a Auto-Diesel Tech school and i talk to potential employers in the oil drilling field at least Twice a month. The amount of oil that they say is left in our country alone is enough to sustain us till well past any of our life spans. That aside, we have to look at this from every angle before we start making claims on what we think is right. An electric car at this day in age is nowhere near the standard we need it to be. You will buy an electric car... charge it for hours at a time, and not reach 200 miles a charge. That alone makes it impossible to market full electric automobiles given the average amount a person drives daily(gotta factor in EVERYONE). My mother lives 3 hours from me and my father is 9 hours, in an electric car i couldnt make it to either of their houses on a single charge and could only make it to my mothers in 1 day. Now, the other forms. Air, water, nuclear, thermal... its all used today to power anything and everything, but they are not suitable for automotive use. You also have to take into account the reverse side of building dams, adding windmills, building nuke plants. Dam: Dams create lakes.... BIG LAKES! An area that would be picked for a dam would already have some sort of city near it and property on water front.... all of that would be lost with a dam. Wind mills: In my honest opinion they are the least harmful of them all, but you still need to clear mass amounts of land for windmill "farms". That land not only takes away from the wildlife, but it also prevents it from being used for future homes for our ever growing country. Nuke plants: Just look at all the harm they have caused the world, not saying im against it... You would just have to convince a country/world to approve it lol. Anyways, the most effective source to turn to is Bio-diesel. Hands down its the easiest, cleanest, cheapest, and most effective alternative energy source you can turn to. It turns our everyday waste into a fuel source... it produces like no harmful shit... It provides the same mileage and power of current fuels.... and you can make it yourself lol. My only hate against bio-diesel is this, dont get your materials from a fast food place.... you will be craving what ever they made..... ALLLLLLLL DAYYYYYY lol. Just some of my thoughts. EDIT:: As for the no blood for oil. I agree, thats why i want to go to iraq and work on the new MRAP's to protect our troops! MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) Vehicles - U.S. Department of Defense Official Website YouTube - Golan MRAP (smaller than the ones id work on, id be on the more Semi-truck sized MRAPS.) | Electric cars are capable of going over 200miles on a charge, see the Tesla Roadster. Aslo they are great for city use. Many European countries already use electric cars for public transit. Also about nuclear, it is safe to use now. People are just afraid because of what happen in the past. The problem with the US's oil is most of it isn't in crude oil form, it is in the form of oil shale. And the process of mining oil shale and refining it into oil is a very dirty process and costly. |
