Now I have to say I would love to go to the dunes. But there is nothing like walking out to the garage getting on the quad and riding 30 miles through the woods, across all the old strip mines, and the challenging mountain trails, endless hillclimbs varying from fast and fun, to white knuckle OMG climbs that leave your nuts somewhere in your stomach, to "there's no fucking way Im gonna try that".

Dunes seems like it would get boring.....up and down.....6 gear for a spell, then some more up and down blah blah blah. The woods always gives you something new, more of a challenge for both man and machine. The riding changes every season, almost every week even. Spraying you friends with sand??? Try spraying them with mud instead I say!

I'm an hour and a half from the largest area of dunes in Oregon (Florence and Coos Bay). After my first time, i've been hooked. I dont even ride my quad on dirt anymore. Dune trips all summer long. There is no comparison between the 2 for me. The Dunes are an incredible amount of fun. For those of you that have never been, you HAVE to make a trip out west to Nevada, Oregon, or Cali and hit up the dunes. Riding to the top of a giant dune and being able to look out for miles and seeing nothing but sand is amazing.

I'll have to take some pics from the top of the mountain by my house. You can see five towns North. Its a great view. Its also the top of one of the nastiest hillclimbs you would ever want to see. We call it "The Beast". I actually dont think anyone has made it up the face in about 5 yrs. To all the hillclimb guys out there, it dont get much better than this. The Beast, Boot Hill, New Boot Hill, Beaverdale Hillclimb, Big Murph, The Tits, Smoothie. All are challenging to near impossible by some. The first three are considered 500 dirtbike only hills, and the tits are a blast for a dirtbiker, they are 2 identical 200 ft high boney piles with a 35-50 ft gap, hence the name. Makes me want to go back to being a kid again when you had the monster set of cahones, crashing just aint as fun as it used to be. lol

Default Trail all the way.

Here the old strip mines are a real challenge not to hurt yourself or quad and when I have been to the dunes in Mich. and Arizona I found no riding challenge go pick an area and climb, sure you can go balls out where is the challenge in that.
