Yea and an unbiased dyno will show on paper what you just described more or less. I had a V-Force 2 distroy a brand new race motor in my old YZ250. A reed petal screw came out lock tite and all and got sucked right into the intake and inbedded itself into my piston right after it destroyed my cylinder. I have learned in a very expensive fashion to distrust anything plastic on my motor. And thats why 5 years ago I switched to a billet unit like the G-3s. Plus now the maker of the G-3s offers the D2 option. Which are preloaders that actually allow you to fine tune your reed valve. Pretty cool feature I think.

here we go again with the reed debate ...there is no aftermarket reed cage that will produce the gains and flow as much as vforce delta reeds will ...by design it has way more reed area and uses thi n superior carbon material and the cage design allows for excellent velocity .and unless yo u have a dynometer and fuel meter equipment in your garage yo u will not have the capability to tune your reed cages for cfm flow at given rpm ranges. the vf2 and vf3 are nearly identical in power gains .the newer delta vforce 3style doesnt use screws ...so theres no worries .if yo u correctly tighten and loctite the vf2 ..they wont be a problem either . reeds arent going to make yo u win at a track by that mod alone ...its noticable they are only good for a couple hp ..BUT its available everywhere i n the powerband which is rare for add on goodies. boysen work well and the rad valves are decent and theres many other designs that work well too

Well you sure said a mouthful there! Good thing im a regular customer of Performance Dyno in Albuquerque NM. I only pay 30 bucks an hour for dyno time and the hp gains as well as overall performance perks with the G-3s are better than the V-Force or any other reed valve on the market. Weather its a lot or a little. And the screws on my VF2 were properly tighten, not over tightened, and had lock-tite applied too. The unit failed plain and simple and cost me a very expensive race motor.

The simple fact is, plastic is a substandard material to base an engine bolt on product on. And as far as reed area goes lol, have you ever held a VF unit up next to a G-3 reed valve? Also, as far as the "superior carbon material" goes, with the G-3 unit you actually have more than one option for reed petals as far as material goes. One of those options being "superior carbon material".

Somewhere in one of my cheap plastic filing cabinets I have several dyno print outs from my own research as to what was the best reed valve to run in my bike. When I find them I will post them.

i do remember a certain manufacturer claiming a warrantee... but when the reed petals were snappign off his reed cage after as little as 45 mins... he wouldn't warantee a damn thing.. he response to more than one person was this.... "well just by the updated petals.. they are only $40 per side" i know some older members will remember this

Was the jetting corrected for each reed system tested? And does locktite work well on plastic? Maybe the use of loctite was your problem...

wel lgo to your trusty filing cabinet and post all those dyno graph ,we'd love to see it i have some dyno graphs from one of the countrys most respectable builders saved that show just the oppisite effect .unless its jetted correctly it fror each cage it wont be unbiased ...that type of polyurethane plastic is resilient lightweight wont corrode crack and conforms within reason to prevents air leaks .theres a reason every top builder and every serious dragger in the usa recommneds and uses them . but !!!there are other cages that work good and are much better than stock
