I actually don't use 1st at all, not for climbs, trails, dunes etc... It's always 2nd on a stabbed throttle!!

will for me im a 255 pound guy and still after a freash rebiuld i can barely pull 2nd gear on a race
and i have steel rims on my paddle tires and i have haulers that grip so it bogs the little 250 down qiuck

but on dirt i can pull 2nd no problem and third becouse of bald tires

are u running different gearing

and u most be giving it hell to make it launch in 2nd
i usally this find a spot around mid rpm then hold it then let clutch go and stab the gas

my bike runs fine but i am a big guy and with a set of paddles in the sands of pismo it bogs the engine. i also have a 14/39 gearing which doesnt help in the sand on a stock 250r.

I launch in 2nd on my Tecate on sand... I shift into 3rd early to help bring down the front wheel... but thats on wet sand with haulers... I weigh 225 with gear so that helps too..lol..

on my bikes is use second.

on my blaster i have to use 1st, i just got some mudlites and they grip like a mother and it bogs unless i slip the clutch, its just easier to start in first, get me in sum slick stuff and ill start in second.
