Default '86 Tecate 3 Wheeler Porting

Hey All...

Anybody have experiance with porting the '86 Kawasaki Tecate T3 cylinders?? I'm looking for an aggressive mid range hit and good top end pull without losing too much low end or slow speed rideability. Can be race gas required. Pipe is a hand coned Jemco mid range/top end pipe. FMF silencer,V-Force 2 reeds with spacer,Ricky Stator 80W stator/flywheel and AMR Monster coil. PWK 39mm carb,Uni 2 stage air filter. Cylinder is sleeved with Wiseco piston. The bike will primarily be used for fast fire roads/power line type riding. 220# rider w/aggressive right hand! LOL!!

Does the '86 cylinder have a divider in the exhaust port? I have a '85 kx cylinder with a divided exhaust. I have another cylinder I bought that was supposed to be a '85 also, but it has a smaller non-divided exhaust port and much bigger ports for the power valves. I am thinking it must be from a '86kx or tecate3. I will post some pictures later tonight when I have my camera with me. It looks like the '85 cylinder will fit on either cases, but the '85 cases would need to be drilled to fit the '86 cylinder as the power valve shafts go through the base gasket and into the cases. I am going to run the '85 cylinder first since It is ported and I already have a new piston for it.

if your engine is all apart we can do case porting to match but it isnt essential and yes youll probably want to get your squish band clearance better and increase static compression by means of a milled head .

All my cylinders look like the pic on the right. If I remember right...all Tecate cylinders had the open exhaust port. The KX 250 cylinder used the bridged exhaust port. I think.

Ok thanks. Now I know what I have. According to kawasaki's webpage, the '86 KX and KXT use the same part# for the head and cylinder, the '85 is different. The '85KX exhaust is much like my '84KX, only the little exhaust ports have valves in them. I wonder which one is better? Probably the '86, I have never heard of anyone swapping them...
