The dome is replaceable (new Head) It should not have effected the Jug at all. Tell me again what has holes in it?

I think he is refering to his squish band having dents or pits in it....

I agree, pitting is probably from detonation? I would guess the cylinder and head are messed up? But is it just time for a rebore or is there more damage?

most cases you can skim cut deep enough to take them out. You need to also need to make sure that you have enough or not too much squish clearance. When you do that you may also need to recut the dome to maintain the proper compression for the gas you are using. you do need to address the pits before you bolt it on. any eratic point in the combustion chamber is a spot for increased heat or a hot spot which could "promote" detenation or uncontrolled burn. same goes for if you ever strip out your spark plug hole and replace it with helicoil. there is a hot spot where the helicoil and the head meet. no good for a race motor and since the zillas are detenation prone (the offset plug only compounds the problem) you should be as careful as possible. hope this helps

I have taken several engines apart that had damaged heads.. They all ran just fine, But I would never put something together like that... especially a detonation prone 500.. I would have it repaired and modified to fit your needs..
