Default Powdercoating

I am going to powder coat my frame, arms, and stem; probably by sending it through somebody's assembly line. What do I need to do to prep my frame? Do I leave bolts in for threads? Anything special I need to do? Sandblast? I've never done this before. so any tips or tricks from those who have powder coated would be greatly appreciated.

Do not leave bolts in, they should plug everything with threads for you. If not you should find a better shop.

they usually offer all phases of prep work if they do they will plug all threaded holes so they say. You will come across some they overlooked. I would recommend goin ahead and doin your motor mounts ,spindles, kick starter,ect.ect.depending on the look you want since they have to mix paint anyway it wont cost much more to do other little pieces

I was planning on sending through a company's assembly line, then I would pay around $20 per hook. All I need is a simple black, so I wasn't going to get it professionally done. I will do motor mounts, but I will leave the spindles/hubs red.

What do I do about the threads on the end of the steering stem? Also, do I need to worry about holes in the frame that aren't threaded? Thanks for your help.

You need a high temp tape. I wouldn't worry about other holes.

Thanks, I hope to be done and running by spring break, because I may be going back to Little Sahara.

Don't leave any bolts in or anything rubber or plastic on your parts they will melt to living hell in a 400 degree oven. The powdercoating place will plug all the holes that have threads in them so no powdercoat gets in there and they should tape off everything thats not getting powdercoated. Most places will sandblast the parts for you but will also charge you for it. So if you have access to a sandblaster i would definately do it yourself.
