Ether? It is starter fluid for one.

Is it bad for your motor? I say in small amounts, " No ".

Let the debate begin.

small amounts shouldnt hurt.....if u use alot, your motor will get addicted to it an you will always have to use it....i also hear that it may cause your motor to lock up....

It is and it isn't safe. The main problem is that is creates a larger compression in the motor and could ruin it. I would say check your compression and figure out why it needs ether to start before you blow up your motor. Watch out if you use it when it is hot, i learned that the hard way. Blew the damn thing up

It makes it go boom. Seriously you should not use it unless it’s your last resort and only in very small amounts. You would be better off spending a little time and money correcting your problem. Ether can and will lock up your engine if used excessively. Being a 2stroke you need some sort of oil to reduce friction upon start up as in any gasoline motor. That is when they are most vulnerable to lock up or be damaged. Ether will also lean it out causing premature wear in the piston and cylinder.

starting fluid or ether pretty much washes all the oil off the cylinder wall, (even in small amounts) and seeing as how you have a 2 stroke it takes some time for the oil to build back up. In the time it takes to build up, the piston rings will wear away the bore ALOT quicker than normal. You can buy a starting fluid designed specificaly for 2 stokes at certain boating stores like West Marine that wont disrupt the oil that is already in the cylinder. I have tried to use it on my evenirude 90 to little success. Just do what was already mentioned above, clean/adjust your carb, replace the plug or whatever it takes........think of the extra power you would get and a well running machine is just more fun to ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ya that isnt good stuff to put in a 2 stroke engine cause it provides no lubrication what so ever In a 4 stroke it has the engine oil to lube the piston and rings it isnt so bad but in a 2 stroke where the fuel is the lubrication and the carb cleaner has no lubrication it causes more friction and creates a bigger boom.So think about it a big boom with no lubrication = Fuged up engine
