| Cant decide which one to get. An 88 or 89 TRX 250R or a newer YFZ 450. Want to get one mostly for MX but also a little woods and one GNCC a year. Any suggestions. Are the newer fourstrokes spanking the old 250Rs on an MX track? |

| i like both but my preferance is the 250r it all depends if you want that arm riping 2 stroke power or the more laid back 4 stroke power.also the 250r has gone down in price so much you can buy a moded out 250r for the same price as a stock yfz450

| the yfz450 is anything but laid back, it revs fast like a 2 stroke and makes real good top end power too, and tons of torque,a piped yfz would romp on a piped 250r all day long if your talking about power |

| yes the 450 do rev fast but need much more maintenance than 2 strokes and are a lot more expensive to fix than 2 strokes.and MJ how many 450 have you raced on a 250r i have had the honda yamaha & suzuki 450s and my trail 265r will keepup or out run all ive had or run.

| I personally want a 250R but that is basically to experience owning the legendary quad at least once. Anyway, as stated previously, the 450 is super fast revving and is set up to run as close to a two stroke as possible. I agree that you should ride both and make your decision based on that. Also, it depends on what kind of riding you are going to do. As far as 4 strokes being high maintenance, they do not become problems unless you neglect them or they get old. I have an 06 Raptor and haven't had to turn a wrench on it yet. Motor mods and rebuilds are 10X as expensive but less frequent if you maintain the quad properly. One word of advice if you get a 450. DEFINITELY get the yfz, I think the 450Rs are pathetic. Atleast stock they are.

| Do what people are doin now? ... SWAP! swap a 250R motor in a 450R chassis and see how it go.... and plus you can sell the 450R motor for good money and use it for the swap and prolly still have money left over. |
