Believe it or not, MX Lites overall race winner Andrew Short took a soil sample once during the day. How did he crash and still manage to win, you ask? Well, there's a catch. Short's crash occurred on the parade lap before the first Lites moto, when Jason Lawrence ran into him and caused him to lay his CRF over. Afterwards when they made it back to the line, Short told Lawrence to watch where he was going, at which point Lawrence got, in the words of Andrew, "All fired up!" The beef between the two never made it as far as a fistfight, but some heavy words were definitely exchanged moments before the drop of the gate. Apparently the confrontation motivated Short; he went on to win the moto.
