have you ever raced quads at all before this? and have you ever even rode quads much before?

if your just starting out than I almost want to say that in your situation it would be the easiest to just get a 450. they are pretty much built to race, much like the motocross bikes. and they are easy to ride and easy to go fast with on the track once you get some seat time and get the hang of everything. and then once you got some good experice I would think about tradin or sellin the 450 and get a nice 250r and then you should be able to out-do the 4 strokes at the track.

i hate when idiot 4 strokers, who dont know what they are talkin about, bring up that reliability bullshit.... they dont even know what they are talking about, if i compred my banshee to 3 of my friends 4 strokes, yfz, trx 450 and a 700rap, my banshee would be considered the most reliable...i wasnt the one taking mine back to the dealership when the thing wouldnt start or would die 20 mins intro a ride and not wana startt again, ive pulled them out of the woods with my unreliable 2 stroke plenty of times... thats just somethin every idiot uses "well.. the top ends on 2 strokes "blwo up" all the time".... not unless you run sand through your premix... i only use gas/oil on mine..

250r is still considered the best handling bike around,, get one definatly, get a nice mx port, some nice shocks, and whatever else the guys recomend, and unless those 450s are highly modded ported/high comp piston, they will eat your shit

my friend right up the rode is the one who will be helping me with everything, he has a yfz450 with some stuff done to it. Then my friend who races go-kart(#1 in the nation or was last time i heard) just bought a new suzuki 450 off the floor and will probably be ported, new piston, head, and nearly everything else asap. so the people who i ride with will be flying accept the other people who have 400ex's

a good rider on a 400ex will smoke a dumb ass on a worked 450 any day of the week, motocross is more about rider than anything , to a certain point of course
