im looking at getting into racing with my friends. For a quad i have been looking at a 250r or lt250r. i found a lt250r for $950. All my friends ride 4-strokes, is there any advice i should know before getting my first quad? Any for racing or maintenance?

well im in the same boat all my friends ride 4 chokes.. all i can say is DONT LISTEN TO ANYTHING THEY SAY!!!!!!!! LOL .. like ohhh the maintenance , your gonna have to rebuild every week.. hahah they are full of stupid comments like that. but if you are going to MX i would suggest the honda 250R Great mx quad

yeah the honda is a way better quad in general... and for MX it really shines

most of them really wouldnt care that its a 2-stroke, they would be glad it gets me into racing, if i have any problems they'll most likely be right there working on it with me. Overall how is the maintence? this will be my first quad but not my first time riding.

Go with the Honda 250r. They are great reliable bikes. The maintenance isnt bad at all. Wash it, Change the oil, and keep the filter clean was all I did when I had my LT250.

I think the maintenance takes longer on my new LTR450 than it did on my LT250...

arent the lt250 and the 250r pretty much the same thing? what some general info i should know about the 250r or lt250

nooo nooo, on flat ground there about the same but thats where it ends. the honda handles soooo much better and has better brakes. go with the honda, there are sooo many aftermarket parts available for them and since the 450 4-pokes came out the price for an r has dropped alot. you can pick up a race ready r for a couple grand.

I think that the Honda 250 is more reliable, and is much better performance wise, and has more aftermarket parts available. If you have a choice between the LT and the 250R I would definitely take the honda over the LT.
