Before you go out riding on snow and ice you should get used to the bike and the powerband and get really good at riding because snow is nothing at all like riding in summer unless its really really really hard packed and not slippery and even then its different. You can be going fine and catch a small bump or something and you can start wobbling on the front end or the front end can slide and its really hard to save even if your only in first or second gear. I rode an IT490 on a glare ice lake with studded tires and it wasn't really fun because your so nervous when the front end starts to move you almost shit your pants because I was going so fast. If your going to race you'll probably want to stud your tires or buy studded tires.
