Default Wheel sizes for mx

I'm in the process of buying new wheels, since my steel wheels just had a speedy encounter with a curb, that hurt my pride more than the wheels. But the wheels are too heavy being steel and all anyways. I was wondering whats a good size for mx wheels, I was thinking 8" or 10", and how wide should it be? whats overboard ya know?

Tens look the best I think. They will have less roll in the corners(lower profile), but you get a little more cushion with more tire on a 8".

18" tires on 8"rims and probably 10-11" wide for the back, 20"tires on 9" rims for the front 6-7" wide

i started mx about a year ago...its best to use the smallest rims and widest it makes it harder to bent....go with the bigest tires...this is for the back rims...i use itp baja 8 inch with 22inch tires in the back...i havnt really got big air but ive past what the stock rims could do

Depending on the terrain of the mx track, you'll want to go with 18 or 19 inch tires. Don't let anyone tell you to go with a bigger rim than 8" for mx. 8" is the standard ran by all mxer's, and they are much much more ding/rock resistance. When pay $ for mx rims, go with heavy duty .190 series 8" rims (i prefer rolled edge rims from douglas). The best of course is 8" beadlocks, but them cost a ton.
Tires, for a two-stroke, go with custom grooved 18x9.5x8 turf tamers, and if you have Extremely high h.p. motor, run 18x11x8 custom grooved turf tamers.
