Rebuilding Shocks???

Does anybody know how to rebuild shocks. I have a old set of Ohlins w/rez and would like to get working again. I know the common answer is to send them out, but I would like to work on them myself. I just need a little guidance. So if anybody has any inputs of experience lets hear it.
