Default Need help with works shocks...

hey i need some help.. i looked on works website and coudnt find much info.. i got some shocks off flea bay and need to adjust the ride height.. its way to high in the front.. i looked on works and the only think i saw was the thing that you spin with a spanner wrench to adjust the ride height.. this just has a little cup looking thing.. looks like the spring has to be compressed and the cup slid down and move a c clip or something??? i will try to put up a pic sometime soon.. i beileve these are works triple rate with rezzys..

thanks for any help

yep your right, theres a little ring/clip that holds that collar. if its adjusted pretty tight you might have to have some help with another person to compress the spring and then take a pretty small flat screwdriver to pry that little ring up and soften the spring rate up.

i compressed the spring almost all the way and the collar thing is still tight.. i didnt try and pry on it to much in fear i would break the clip and be screwed.. i just didnt see these shocks on works site. i saw some just like them but they had the thing u screw to adjust ride height.. so i didnt know if i could order a new clip if i broke it..??

i will wait till u post a pic, but i have taken mione apart and adjusted them twice. everything you are explaining sounds framiliar.... there is a collare that has a groove in one end that will allow the clip to seat in it, locking the hieght of the shock in a set position.... do not try an adjust it with the spring still on.... on the opposit side of the shock ther as a collar wicth hase a square notch in it. this "collar", holds the springs on. compressing the springs will allow this collar to move from the eye hole on the bottum end of the shock, you may then grab, and slide the notched collar off of the spring.... when you release the springs, they will now slide all the way off the end of the shock.... at this time you may attempt top adjust the "hieght adjustment sleeve".... apply pressure to it in the direction you removed the springs.... it should come right down and off the spring with little effort, unless its been on there for awhile.... this will leave nothing but the clip on the main shock..... there should be multiple grooves on the shock for relocating this clip. from here, the process is self explanitory, moving the clip up will lower the ride hight, and moving it down will raise it.... MAKE ABSOLUETLY SURE THAT WHEN YOU PUT THE SLEEV BACK ON THE SHOCK, OVER THE CLIP, THAT THE CLIP SLIDES DOWN INTO THE GROOVE, SEATING!!!!!!!!!!!! I MADE THAT MISTAKE ONE TIME, AND ONE TIME ONLY! there is only one direction you can put that sleeve on for it to work, if its backwards the clip will pop off, and the shock will collapse under stress. it sucks.... just make sure its on correctly.... when i take them off now, i mark with a pin., and have my little bro hold the sleeve firmly against the clip so that i get a good seat, while i put the springs back on the shock........
