Default packing in a silencer

when should i change the packing in a toomey t5? does it help the performince

Many will say the same but I don't know how much is true & I still don't know..
Thought the back pressure would create at the end of the header where connects to the stinger?
Haven't changed mine in a few years but I inspect it when intalling the spark arrestors. All looks fine.
Once removed it to make it a bit louder, sounds badass!
