Exclamation 2 Stroke Catalyst

Any exhaust guys know of any company (Foreign or Domestic) producing 2 stroke catalytic converters. Any information is welcome.

As a design project, I am looking to make 2 Strokes more environmentally friendly, example riding in Yellowstone National Park. Also redesigning exhaust pipes, and re-working fuel and ignition maps.

I would think that any catalayic converter would quickly become blocked with all the sludge a two stroke make, even if it was clean burning.

And since a two stroke heavily relies on it's pipe design it would have to be mounted after the expansion chamber and may not get hot enough to reach light off temprature.

I think effeciencies are better found in port designs, and cleaner/better oils. Look to the turbo diesel two strokes and see how they work.

yeah a catalytic converter would clog up pretty quick on a 2-stroke

check this out http://auto.howstuffworks.com/catalytic-converter.htm

a really good way to reduce emissions is to run on alcohol, an alcohol 2-stroke is probably cleaner than a gas 4-stroke

you are talking about the Evinrude E-tec engines. I don't know for sure if they have catalayic converters but they are very clean burning. They use fuel injection directly into the cylinder, but I'm not sure how they worked out the oiling of the crank and rod bearings.
