turbos dont mix well with 2-strokes, not saying they dont add power but they are more suited for 4-strokes

the reason for this is because usually you cant boost much until you blow a crank seal, its hard on the reeds, its putting upward pressure on the piston while it comes down, a 2-stroke's exhaust system is very complex and when you throw a turbo on it things get 100x harder.

Nitrous would be a better bet, its doing the same thing as a turbo but without all the compatibility problems of a turbo 2-stroke. I would bet you could make a lot more power with nitrous and you wont have turbo lag, but it sucks to have to fill a bottle all the time

shure slap a turbo on it. it would be a baddass machine no doubt about it. i would love to see a video of a turbo sled. im just saying. the rideability of the thing will be greatly reduced to nothing but straight line drags. eliminate any botom end that you had before. cuz its gonna be all topend because of turbo lag. not to mention you will have to overhaul it perdy much after every ride. it would be cool if you had the $$$ to keep up with maintanance. the other (and better option) is NO2. port the cylinders. add some baddass pipes. shave the head. the thing is gonna be fast. then add the nitrous. hold on cuz your in for a ride. you take an allready fast machine (a ported one) and toss some crazy shot of nitrous on it.......... baddass. not to mention you are gonna be in it alot less in the end and have reliability on your side.

Turbos on sleds are done alot out here in the west. You can plan on spending alot of cash for upkeep. A basic kit will be 2300-3500 and then labor to have it installed and set up. You looking at close to $5000.

If you try to set it up yourself plan on buying a boat load of pistons and having your buddies tow you back to your trailer. The biggest problem is getting the jetting, & boost correct. Less then 8 pds and your good to go, over that then you are looking for frequent rebuilds. If your serious about this I can get you names of guys that can do this for you. You might check out www.snowest.com its the best sled site for western riding and has threads you can do a search on for turbos. Just understand that most people are not to willing to provide the info to you if your not known or just looking for free info. This is an expensive project.

Stock motor, no porting, stock pipe, boost box for carbs, fuel pump, closed turbo so you do not have to have an oiler. full gauges for furl pressure, boost ect. plus you will have to run a mix of AV Gas & Race Fuel depending on your allitude. This is expensive.....$$$$$$$$$$$$

Cheapest way to get into it is to buy a 4 stroke sled and have a supercharger put on.

my best friend used to work at bender racing, and they make kits for:

almost all Yamaha 4 strokes, and Viper
Ski Doo Rev 800 SDI, Mach Z, and the Rev 600, but not for the 500ss
Articat F7 and F8
Polaris 600XLT triple, and the pro X 600 and 800

there alittle pricey, but he says they were getting constant gains of 150+ HP on the dyno
