Default gearing for my summit

on my summit i have a 22 tooth top sprocket and a 44 tooth on the bottom and i was wondering if i can go with 24 on the top and keep the 44 on bottom without changing the chain out for a longer one. the reason i want to do this is because my 98 summit 500 has the chain case internals and cover off a 98 skandic 500 so it can have reverse but the stock gearing for my summit is 23 top and 43 bottom so if i add 2 teeth on the top now then ill have stock gearing.

a fair bit actually i use up a little more then half my adjustment on the tensioner but I'm not sure how much slack a extra 2 teeth will use.
