| i wouldnt say it happens to all 800s ive been working at a ppolaris dealership for five years now and ive seen two 800 cranks gone bad,my brother has an 01 800xc with 6,800 miles on it and the motor has never been touched improper installation of the primary clutch can cause creankshaft failure..... what failed on it exactly???both the ones i had apart broke the crank pin (big end rod bearing) on the pto side. ive repaired well over 5 600 cranks but there are more 600s out there than 8s |

| the rod bearing went out on the crank end. It seems that most of the crank problems were the main bearing on the pto side. What really sucks is I cant get any after market rods for the 02 so I have to get polaris ones at $245 a pop. I told the shop to redue all the main bearings to and hopfully I wont have any other issues on the lower end. I'm also going to redue both clutches. the guy I baught this from was always swaping shit. He wants to go fast but he was always to cheap to do it the right way. From what I was reading online theirs bine quite a few problems with these big block motors (crank issues) between 2500 & 3500 miles (i have 3000).

| After you get it all back get a motor plate and put it on. Loose the straps. They let the motor twist too much. Ive got alot of friends with this motor. Most of them have broke at least one crank. Some have broke More then 5. Everybody with the motor plate (and they are the 5 motor mount plate) had had theirs hold up way better and longer. Ive got a buddy that has a turbo 800 ans has never broke a crank. He also has the 6 motor mount plate. Too much twist on the crankcase isn't a good thing. |
