| Sorry bout the links... been off the forum for so long I didn't realize they didn't work. Still won't make it on much, but I get emails when I get replies, so I'll pop in occasionally. New pics are up and linked to an offsite source, so they shouldn't be a problem again.

| Does the Trinity Sparky fit straight up into the Toomey silencer or did you have to modify it to make it fit in there? Also, wouldn't the Toomey silencer core interfere with the Trinity Sparky or does the Sparky fit perfectly over the core? I'm thinking of making my own or would you sell a pair. We need more aftermarket for these spark arrestors! The Sparky's, don't they come with the Forestry Approved stickers? |

I know I'm about 8 months behind, but I thought it would be worth answering anyway, seeing how I never really did an official write-up or anything... No... nothing just matches up. It required quite a bit of grinding & cutting to get them to fit. But it can be done with basic shop tools and a grinder, although a nicely equipped machine shop and/or lathe would have made it a snap. Once I removed the toomey Stinger pipes from the end, I had to grind down the inside of the silencer where that groove is. The stingers were scrap, there was no way they'd go back in once I ground down the silencer outlet. After that, I had to ground down the outer diameter of the spark arrestors so they would fit inside the silencer. This was no easy task either. These sparkys are billet aluminum, and are nearly like grinding hardened steel!! After I got them to fit, I had to cut off about 1/4 inch off the sparky (the portion that insert into the silencer). There was a slight gap because of depth of the silencer was not enough to fully insert the sparky (depth-wise... the diameter at this point was fine). I had to drill and tap new holes in the sparkys for screws and drilled corresonding holes into the silencer. The silencer core was an issue too... They fit into the end of the sparky, however, even after trimming it so it would fit deeper into the silencer, the core was about 1/8 inch too short to stay in the grooves, and there would still have been about 1/2 inch of play (front to back movement) even if I could make up that 1/8 inch. So what I did, was I cut a bit of pipe off the stinger tubes (the ones which were now worthless anyway). The are exactly the same size as the core. I put half the stinger tube in front of the core and the other half in the sparky. It was just enough to center it in the silencer and sparky so it wouldn't fall out, and they took up the free-play so it wouldn't move around and rattle either. And that is basically it! Took me dozens upon dozens of hours and late nights to do all the grinding fabrication neccesary to make them fet. But it was fun, and I like how they turned out. the end caps of the sparkys are also removable, so you can run them with or without the spark arrestor insert and/or cap.

| Wow!! You've been away for a while but thanks for that response ha haaa!! I guess I had no choice & bought the Toomey Spark Arrestors.. Are you still running those on your bike? Have you ever encountered a ranger & had an issue?

I rarely get online at home anymore since I sit in front of a computer all day anyway. I was just getting on to post a few classifieds. But yes, I'm still running them, still work and sound great. Never had a single issue with any cops or rangers. Been to glamiss once (day after a holiday...nobody there!) HAHHHAHA Also ride locally and Jawbone/Dove Springs... cops are pretty cool there. There were losts of them at Pismo a few weeks ago, but they didn't bother me there either. I don't rev to the high heavens when I don't have to. I instinctively tend NOT to draw attention to myself. So I've never encountered a ranger... But when I get out and away.. it's balls to the wall, and it just wails!! ![]()
