Default 85 250r clutch issues

Just want to say hello to all before I start with my issue. I have had a few 3 wheelers in the past. My favorite was my honda 250r. I currently race IMCA Modifieds. Visit my website and check it out! http://www.tedgouldracing.com. I just purchased a 85 lt250r quadracer. It runs awesome with the FMF fatty, boysen reeds and wiesco piston. My issue is with the clutch cable sticking. I'm going to replace it. I removed it from the clutch lever on the bars and when I started to remove it from the clutch arm on the motor, I noticed the arm was upside down, (or atleast I think it was). I couldn't get the cable out without removing it. No biggie, loosened the bolt and freed it with a screwdriver to a point where it got stuck on the shaft that goes into the motor. I pryed a little more and the whole shaft came out! I tried to get the shaft back in but it looks like I need to remove the side case. Is there a way to get it back in without removing the whole side of the motor?

it should go back in, but it also might not, because there is a teeth on a shaft that the rod you pulled out fits in, so that could have moved just a bit to be out of align. so i would say the easiest way would be to remove the clutch cover to get the shaft back in.

I got it in! I was messing around starting to get the kick starter off and noticed it was sitting in where it needs to be. What luck, huh? I can't wait till the cable gets here so I drag the rear bumper across the lawn!! lol
