| Whatever you do, do not try to tune your motor by adjusting the fuel to oil ratio. Pick a ratio and tune to suit your riding style by adjusting the carb jetting (pilot, main), carb needle and the air:fuel mixture screw. The fuel:oil ratio is about 99.9% for lubrication only and if you take it out of the tuning equation you will learn alot more about 2 stroke tuning. Air:fuel ratio is about motor effeiciency. Burning the correct amount of fuel to make the motor run at it's peak potential without grenading. Fuel:oil = 50 parts fuel:1 part oil 50 parts oil: 1 part oil is richer than 40 parts fuel:1 part oil by a very small percentage. If you have 50 gallons of fuel in order to get 50:1 you would mix in 1 gallon of oil. If you have 40 gallons of fuel in order to get 40:1 you would mix in 1 gallon of oil. If you have 30 gallons of fuel in order to get 30:1 you would mix in 1 gallon of oil. If you have 20 gallons of fuel in order to get 20:1 you would mix in 1 gallon of oil. If you have 10 gallons of fuel in order to get 10:1 you would mix in 1 gallon of oil. If you have 5 gallons of fuel in order to get 5:1 you would mix in 1 gallon of oil. which has less fuel to oil = leaner which has more fuel to oil = richer Remember; fuel to oil ratio is different than the air to fuel ratio, think about them seperatley. There will be alot of people who disagree with these statements. Please take somtime to think about it before you pass judgement. Just because you have thought about it one way all of your life does not make it right.

| Here's a link to a chart on Spectro's website, which shows the right amount of oil per gallon, quart, or ounce of fuel for ratios from 20:1 to 80:1. This chart has helped me with my premixing, maybe it'll help someone else too. http://www.spectro-oils.com/fuel%20ratio%20chart.htm |
