6-speed lt?

I have seen four different lT 250's for sale on ebay. They all claim they are 6-speeds. The only LT i have rode is my own, which is a 1990 model. It has only five gears, are these sellers mis-informed, or do I have a transmission problem? Mine shifts fine, I just always figured it was only a five-speed.

all 87-92 models are 6 speeds..either you have a 85-86 engine..or a tranny problem.

ahhh 87+ are 1 down and 5 up, maby thats where your getting confused, u have to shift down past neutral to get to first gear, or your tranny is gone to shit.

well how do you know you don't have a 85 or 86 engine..do you have a power valve??? only the 6 speed quads had power valves

I know because Its a 1990, and I have done work to engine already. I just didnt know it was suposed to have six gears. Lt's arent popular where I live, so I have never rode one besides my own. It shifts fine, with consistently even gear spreads. I bet my problem is with high gear. Will the older trans, fit in a newer case? I know someone has had the case apart before because it has a hot rod in it. It runs about 62 mph in the highest gear. with stock gearing and 21" tires.

No the older gears will on fit in the 87-92 motor. my tranny went once on my 89 and the top end gear got messed up and it seized to my clutch shaft. i bought a 86 tranny off a guy thinking it was a 87 and it wasn't. so i know for a fact there isn't any way to get a older trainy in the87-92 motor. hmmm i wonder what the problem is? wierd

maybe they forgot to install 6th gear when they installed the hot rod!!

i would say there is something wrong internally. maybe 6th or 6th mating gear teeth is messed up.

Thats probably whats up. Someone probabaly left out high gear when it was apart. Sounds like I am going to be tearing into it soon, I have to have all six now that I know...
