Default HELP I'm about to give up on 2-strokes

Let me start by saying I like 2-strokes alot more than 4-strokes as far as performance. I'm by no means bashing 2-strokes with this post I just need help on figuring out what the heck is going with my engines. I have built 2 400ex's and 2 440ex's and they were some of the strongest motors I have ever had. My problem is I have owned a 2-stroke since last year. I had an 85 lt250. I went through about a tank of gas on the thing and it locked up. I figured I just bought it at the end of its life span no big deal. I bought an 88 lt250 engine to replace the one that locked up. I fired it up it ran for about 10 mins and it locked up. I then bought a NEW stock wiseco sleeve and a NEW STD wiseo pro-lite piston. I sent the jug sleeve and piston off to a pro-shop got it all back installed a new gasket set triple checked my ring end gap made sure the rings are in the right place. ( i triple check every thing if not more) and I added more oil pre-mix to the fuel (36:1) I used bel-ray MC1 synthetic. I added a little oil on top of the piston to insure it was lubricated. It started up after about 5 kicks then promptly locked up again. It was alll I could do to not punch a hole in the frickin wall. I do not understand why this keeps happening. I'm trying not to let it get me down but I feel scared to buy a new piston again and send the sleeve to the shop again just to have the damn thing lock up again. I realy love the power and performance of 2-strokes but I'm on the verge of parting it out and buying a old 400ex to knock around on. Some one talk me out of this and call me back to the dark side!

you probably have an air leak ,if anything be mad at suzuki engines not all 2 strokes

could be an air leak ^^ or a bad connecting rod... bring the lower unit in and see if the rod still fits within the tolerances

like they said an air leak but your not giving it hell when you start it with a wiseco are you? if you are it cold be cold seizing..although that seems unlucky doing it twice unless your really giving it hell.

no I am really carefull during break in. It ran at idle for till it locked up. I guess I'm just gonna order a complete gasket kit and try it again and pray I dont get f'ed again.

Dont get me wrong I'm not blaming any one. I'm just trying to figure out whats going on. and I'm also venting a little... I'll be better tommorow I guess I just really want to get this quad together and running correctly.

did you get new crank seals? I know my brothers KX blew up twice because he was arrogant to replace them.

Definately something wrong somewhere.Blame Suzuki ?Nah but there is either a serious airleak.Jetting is way off or a nasty crank seals.I have had many Suzukis and never had this happen.Also check out the crank.Has to be something majorly wrong.How did the skirt look.Piston and color.Spark plug color.Can go on and on.Just do not put it together again until u see something majoryl wrong to be causin this kind of failure.Dont give up!!!!
