Default long rod tech. question

If I were to put the long rod kit into the 85 lt250r what kind of performance would that add to the engine? i would guess more torque, but the displacement and compresion would be the same because of the base space and the fact that im not moving the pin placement on the crank, right?

Torque, h.p. will obviously will increase with the proper porting and head squish angle !

Rod length has no affect on displacment.... only bore and stroke changes do... The longer rod gives you less piston side loading and more dwell time near tdc...

for a 85-86 lt motor, use an 88-92 lt250 rod.

Its a +8mm right, cosmetic only make aluminum spacer with 3.18mm & 4.76mm so will the three base gaskets make up that difference if i use two of the 3.18mm spacers?

The long rod wont make your bike any faster. It may make the motor last a little longer, because of less side to side force, like cr480r said. A spacer plate and long rod will mess up your port timing unless you have the cylinder ported to match.

No increase in power if you match and port the cylinder to the long rod, I totally disagree.

There would have to be some gain in power... The piston dwells near tdc for more degrees of crank rotation... should at least gain some torque... If you need a rod already I cant see any reason not to do it... besides maybe the added crankcase volume???

I meant without porting i wouldnt expect huge gains with just a long rod . All your doing with a long rod and spacer is increasing the distance between the crank and piston, and increasing crankcase volume,it still has the same exact stroke.Would more time at tdc and bdc make that big of a difference?
