Downshift Problem-90'LT250R

Has anyone else had this problem? I can upshift no problem, but when I downshift, most of the time I have to keep pushing down on the shifter because it never downshifts. Doesn't click or anything. I tore the tranny apart and couldn't see anything wrong. It's wierd. Doesn't happen on specific gears either, just randomly. it's f'd up

i tried clicking on the search button but it didn't do anything
