i've looked into cannondal shocks...the front one i think are almost the same size as the lt shocks.. i think the 400ex shocks are alittle taller the the quadracer shocks but do work. and i think i've see someone with yfz shocks on there quad..i'm gonna try those out i think

Ive read somewhere about swaps on z400 and 400ex shocks but i dont recall the details anymore to be honest - or if it was saying it could/couldnt be done for that matter.

Personally, I wanted to do the same thing for a while myself - but than thought better of it. Why not just get works or elkas built for it that bolt right on and are better? the stock 400ex shocks are not going to be the same quality etc. I know its expensive but youll probably be happier in the end. Just my $0.02 though.

If you wanna do something inventive, why not put stock 450 arms and shocks on or something....than it may be worthwhile?

but.....again, just my ramblings. good luck.

400ex front shocks will fit on the 87-92 quadracers. I put a set on my 92 so i know for sure they will fit. They are like 3/4 of an inch longer and make the front end sit a little higher. Doesn't effect anything really. They are a nice upgrade from stock LT shocks. If you are on a tight budget, they are a good choice. They will work even better with a set of aftermarket a-arms.

The z400 rear shock will ONLY fit on the 91-92 quadracers. Once again, i know this for a fact because i installed one on my 92.

I dont know of any rear shock from other bikes that will fit the 85-90 quadracers. I was going to try a raptor 660 rear shock but sold my 87 before i had the chance to try it. The mounts and measurements are just about the same. I'd say the 660r rear shock is your best bet if you dont want to go with aftermarket. I dont know if it fits for sure, i wanted to try it, but didn't get the chance. If you have a friend that has a raptor, see if he will let you borrow the rear shock to test with...

Hope that helps you...
