Default lt250 qaud trouble need help please!!

i have bought a suzuki lt250 1990 qaudracer it was fun the first day i had it out i have realised that the back suspension is gone, the carb is leaking petrol, the wiring was all messed up but i have sorted that out, plastics are a mess same as the frame but have now been painted, and it seems to loose power in high gear 3rd or 4th then it starts to splutter, it also tends to cut out going up hills, and it has no brakes . . . . , so i need to know what is the best parts to buy to replace these problems and what could be causing them i have been told the 400ex plastics will fit same with the front and back suspension units is this true ? i am also going to be needing a piston kit of some sort as i think this is why the engine is running so poorly because it has not been ran in properly once it had the piston rings replaced last time, and the biggest problem of all is that i live in the uk so i have no chance of getting original parts lol it took me over 2 weeks to find somewere that i could get my clutch cable and gear changer from, so i will most probably have to buy of ebay, i wouldnt mind spending a bit of money on making the engine a bit more perfomanced either, if you can help with any of this then please, any advice will be much appreciated as i have only been riding for 3 months now so i dont realy know much

I ain't no expert but maybe it's just a chipped/broken reed petal? If it is try hopping it up with a Boyesen Rad Valve off of eBay to replace it. I just saw one go for $20 w/carbonfiber reeds! Might be able to fix your problem and make it better than stock would ever would have been! Needle and seat for the float in the carb is probably your fuel flow problem.

first off i would check the engine compression to see if the topend needs a rebuild.make sure you use a good quality gas and oil mix.also make sure the air filter is very very clean, and use a new sparkplug.

About your brakes, did you bleed them? Maybe the fluid was low and you got some air into the system. Aside from buying another shock for the back. I found a really cheap fix for bouncy shocks. This might scare some!!! Chances are the nitrogen has leaked out. I'm not really sure how the whole thing works but I'm guessing the nitro goes into a bag which is enclosed in the reservoir. Nitro leaks out bag collapses, oil fills gap. Now there isn't enough oil in the shock to work properly. Pump air into the bag to reinflate it or add oil to compensate for the collapsed bag. I've got an 86 and 87 YZ-250 one with a shock I had redone and the other untouched in normal working condition. Aside from one bike having red radiator covers you had to pay attention to notice. Infact the only reason that we could even tell a difference was probably from having two of the same bikes at the same time next to each other. If I could ride it for more than an hour at a time maybe it would fade a little. Were out in farmland here, and the only nitrogen is in the fertilizer!!!!Where there's a will there's a way!!

the reed valve is fine i checked that out, also with the carb i checked the floats and they seem to be ok, but one thing i have noticed was the piston it doesnt look right just listen to it knocking side to side on this video im no expert but . . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyN8EVIt9MQ (you might have to turn the volume up this was recorded on my mobile phone) personally i think its the piston rings i can start the god dam bike with my hand!!! lol

i tried to bleed them my bleeder nipples got rounded off so i cant get them out but i will be able to sort them out it was just trapped air, and as for the suspension i am looking for a 400ex becoz they suppose to bolt right onto these bikes with no trouble, so i am going to try that

yeah man that bore looks pretty sloppy..you need to have the bore measure thouroughly with a bore gauge.might need to go several sizes bigger due to an ovalized (egged) cylinder.and you should not be able to start it with your hand, that real low compression.

You need an oversize. Try a mini pipe wrench on your bleed screws, a pair of vise grips might make them worse....but then you might get them to work too!

believe it or not that was a new piston and rings only 6months ago and also i had the inside re-sleeved (i think its called) them idiots at howards & sons i aint going back there they messed up the clutch on the raptor aswell!!!

i took the top end of the engine apart this morning, the rings are worn down on one half and are completly fine on the other also the piston is scratched up, is the compression thing to do with my piston aswell ? so once i get my piston sorted and a re bore the compression should return to normal ?
