Default Airbox lid removal?

Does anyone know if removing the airbox lid will make the engine run leaner or would it be richer since there's more airflow creating a greater venturi force in the carb sucking more fuel through the main jet??? Thanks

From my experience it seems leaner. The airbox is very restrictive and you will want to remove it for more power.

it will lean it our of course,, if you dont wana take your lid completley off you could drill some 1" holes in it and get a 8 pack of those airbox lid vents, also remove that snorkel on the front thatd held on with that hose clamp just unscrewit and throw it out, and you should go up on your main jets too, with themore air

Thanks, Ill try removing the lid. It is actually seems to be running a bit rich with the Boyesen Rad valve that's on it. It's also got an FMF exhaust. Does the exhaust have any affect on carburation?

remove your front nozzle with the clamp, take the screw out of the bottom of the air filter to allow any water to flow back out and that should do no need to take your lid of, i suggest you keep it on unless you have a huge stock of air filters that you need to waste

Nath07 The nozzel you are referring to, is it inside of the airbox at the top? It connects to the frame? I went for a ride without the lid. Now I haven't riden it for about 2 weeks....blew my hat right off!!! I know, I know a helmet would have stayed put! For the the first time I didn't question it being a 6 speed!!!! Used to always feel like I was still in fifth!!! LOL Probably from not riding these last two weeks though!

i removed the nozzle that connects to the frame and underneath your airbox is a screw i took that out jst incase any water got in there so it could pour straight back out seems to have done me good. i took it to wales for the weekend without a airbox lid (i lost it somewere) and i had to replace the air filter as soon as i got back, so if i was you i would keep your lid on especailly if you go off road
