Exclamation Help: Not sure what 2 do on my lt250R!!

first of all... I am new to 250r's... I have a few things I would like to have answered... first my 250r is very hard 2 start and it has 150 lbs of compession... my dad was workin on it is had the back end jacked WAY up and forgot 2 turn the gas off.. ever since it has been hard 2 start... I have 2 hold the throttle WIDE open and about 10-12 kicks and it will slowly start up as it pukes gas from the top of the airbox... fouled plug er is it sumthing else??

I was also wondering what pipe I should look into.. I do not wanna spend a lot of money.. and I want it 2 b trail legal (96 dbl) with a spark arrestor.. whats my best bet??

Last, my motor has the power valve... on the left side of the motor there is an adjustment.. how much should you adjust it?? where is the factory setting?? what does it do when you turn it clockwise?? what do the numbers mean on that plate you have 2 loosen 2 get it to turn??

Welcome to E2S. For starters, pull the plug and kick it over a few times to clean out the bottom end. Leaving the gas on and the rear in the air will fill the bottom end with fuel. Or start it up and rev the snot out of it till it clears out. Replace the air filter after it's clear and the plug. The P/V adjust's counterclockwise if you turn it clockwise it will not perform like it should. Someone with a 250 can tell you the setting as I think it's probably different than the zilla.

Dont know much about powervalves, but I can help with other things.

The drain plug on the bottom is for your transmission oil, this wont help you much.
I suggest removing you carb and pipe, then spray carb clean/brake clean where your carb was and kick it over, repeat. A LITTLE two stroke oil after you do this will ensure lubrication, altough it will make it smoke badly when you start it back up.
And get a new plug.

As for your exhaust question, your stock silencer is spark arrested I believe. If you dont have it, FMF turbinecore silencers are, and some other brands might have them as well for your LT. The pipe you chose has nothing to do with being a spark arrestor, but a new one is always nice

Yes, I do know that the plug on the bottom of the motor is for the transmission... I just changed the fluid and put in an oil that is for a wet clutch... I was wondering if there was another plug that would drain the motor... as for the pipe... I do not want it 2 loud... but I want it to work and sound nice... I ride around my neighborhood and do not want ne1 to complain of noise...

What kind of power difference will I notice with a pipe?? what is an 1988 lt250r hp stock??

No, there is no other drain plug, thats why I said you would need to remove pipe and carb. As for noise, buying a different pipe wouldnt change it much, as would a silencer. Its not really the same as the four strokes running around, those become much louder with aftermarket exhaust. Running without a silencer would make it alot louder. An aftermarket pipe is arguably the greatest power gaining mod you can make, along with porting.
Dont know stock HP

Like Blaster250 said the bottom of the crank case is filled with fuel, once you have that cleaned out get her running & rev it every so often to clear the rest of the fuel out of the crank case. Clean the kfilter & grab a new spark plug.
As for the pipes: Power pros & PT are your best bet. However, FMF will work fine for the trails. If you are going with an aftermarket exhaust you will want to get the FMF Turbinecore silencer because it is spark arrested, There may be others also.
I do not know about the PV.....

aight.... ya I did get it cleaned out and cleaned the airfilter... it runs great now... as for the Power Valve.. I was messin with it today and it turned it clockwise... that makes the powervalve kick in at a lower rpm...

Does anyone have a FMF pipe for an 1988 that they wanna sell?? I also want the trubine core bc that is trail legal...
