PJ38 carb recomendations for 86LT

I got a keihin pj38mm carb off ebay for 50bucks thought it was gonna be a P.o.s but it ended up being in good condition and still smells like fresh gas. It came with a 165 main jet and in my stocker mikuni i was running a 240. What jet should I be running? Do I have to get a LT500 intake boot to fit the pj38? I think i can reverse the stock one but it looks like it may cause turbulence with the extra thick lip after the carb.

Go to home depot or lowes and get some of the rubber tube cut it to the length you need. If its a lil snug boil it in water and it should slide right on. As for the jetting I am absolutely no help at all

hit up rjatv on here for some jets .... 240 mikuni should be around 148 keihin main and id guess a 50 pilot but youll ose some intake velocity with the bigger carb and would warrant an additional size or two ..so i would choose 152 main and the 50 pilot

Yes, You should be able to boil that carb boot & pull it over the carb lip. The Jets that Denny had suggested will be very close, But Keep an eye on the plug.
