| Maybe someone can shed some light on my problem. The other night I was working on my 1990 LT250R and started the quad. It took approx. 10 kicks to get it started and when it did it ran fine (didnt ride it) . Yesterday I went to start it and it would not start. My first plan of attack was hit it with a little eather and still nothing. Pulled the plug (little black) and cleaned it, still nothing. Checked for spark and found that it was weak to non-excistant. Took off all the plastics and started checking all the wires and connections. Unplugged and plugged in all the connections and somehow spark returned (must have been dirty connection)Tried to start it and still nothing. Compression seemed a bit low so I did a compression test. Screwed in a good compression guage and had to kick it 10-15 hard times to get it to 100 lbs. Is that low enough (with eather) to keep it from not starting or am I dealing with something else? If I just kicked it 3-4 times with the guage hooked up it didnt get past 60-70 lbs. Sorry for being so long winded but I wanted to give as much info as possible. With a fresh top end what should the compression be? Thanks for your help. |
