If you have an 87 bottem you need an 87 piston due to rod clearance. You can use an 88 up cylinder and piston but will need to grind th piston skirt.I have a nice 87 cylinder pm me and I will give you more info..

the stroke is the same it will clear..i do have a 1987 cylinder thatr is .060 kinda rough.i also have a .080 wiseco piston i could include with it.PM me if intersetsed.

I thought so also but when I pulled the cylinder I saw where the piston skirt and rod met and cracked the piston skirt it looks like it was hitting for some time it was definetly making contact.

if the skirt was hitting the conecting rod there was some other major issues.

I am still trying to figure out what happened it was an 87 bottem end with hod rods crank and rod 87 cylinder and head with a wiseco pro lite piston.Other than the piston carnage the crank and crank bearing still felt tight no freeplay whatsoever. How they hit I can't figure out.But I did hear a while back that the 87 crank is diferent than the 88-up and definetly the cylinder is different.I had ordered a piston that stated 87-up but when I got it it said 88-up on the box..Damn E bay..maybe I just got some shit luck but somehow the rod and piston skirt met and destroyed themselves. But all is good now I just bolted in a 92 engine .
