| could be that when i took it the first time to get bored out they told me you dont have to run thrust washers in them could that be it the front of the piston the rings would not move at all |

| what year LT is this?do you know if the crank is stock?the hotrods cranks use thrust washers on the bottom of the rod so they are not needed at the top. |

| its an 86 and the crank is stock on iy |

| You do need the Thrust washers.... This could very well be the problem, because the piston ha alot more angle movement without them. However, the thrust washers from factory are shit & break without warning...trashing the cylinder. The only way to run the hot rod in the 85-86 is to do the long rod conversion...

| well man i really do not know much about the 85 86 Qracer so i cannot shed anymore light on the prob...could be a bad borejob...i dont think that year has a bridged exhaust, does it?maybe it sucked air and leaned out causing some overheating or was detonating.what is the compression?what type of fuel? |

| 85-87 motors require thrust washers on the top end of the rod unless you do a hybrid type of conversion. But stock, which I imagine that you are running, thrust washers are required. Chances are the piston cocked a bit and hung up on a port. Also, when you have a cylinder bored, you should chamfer all of the port openings to prevent the rings from snagging or snapping on the ports.
