If you have checked the stator and everything is good. Try checking the ground & also the coil and the coils ground.
You jdid not mention what year lt250r this is so here is the wiring diagram for the 85-86 lt250r.
There is no downloadable manual that I know of for the lt250r's.....

Did you check your source coil in your stator? The same thing happened to quadracer87 and that what it was. Cost about $40.00 to fix it.

My first thoght is the stator or the source coil. Use a multimeter to test for continuity. Could possibly be a bad connection in the spark plug cap.

take your stator to a dealer and they'll tell you if it's bad. the pickup and primary coil are supposed to be a at certain resistance but i can't remember what it is. you can buy the coils separately if you dont want to drop 125 on a whole new stator

you can check the resistance in the coil with a ohm meter. Just use the plugs that are underneath the gas tank. Unplug the Black with Red tracer wire and try to get a connection through the bullet connector. All you have to do is make sure you are touching the copper wire on one lead and grounding with the other lead. I am pretty sure the resistance is around 500 ohms but i dont really remember. When I check mine I had no continuity so it read 0 ohms. Anyway that's what I would do, good luck.
