Default crank shim missing???

im putting my motor back together after a complete rebuild from the bottom up and in my clymer manual it says there is a shim on the crank between the bearing and the weight. ive never seen the shim before. Im just wondering about them does it need it and will i need one? its a 86 lt250r thanks
