Default Long Rod Problems

Im tring to assemble my engine, however now that I have a 8mm spacer plate between the cylinder & the cases the studs used to bolt the jug on are not long enough.
I know that at least one other member here "Mgty3wheeler" has done this, and I would like to know what he has done.
I relize that I need to get longer studs, but where do I get them?
Also, I just had the bottom end rebuilt, So do I need to split the cases again to have the londer studs installed, or can they be installed with the bottom end together?

you should be able to pull them from the top. there is a special tool for pulling studs, put vice grips will work also, especially if you are not concerned with reusing them. hope that helps

Yah you will need to get longer studs, i do not know where to get them though, hopefully someone else here can help you with that, as far as changing them you will not need to split the halves again.

I can't remember off hand but I think that I got the longer studs from another motor.
It's been a while since I did this mod to my LT.
If I remember vaguely, I think that I used the head studs from another cylinder, because the cylinder studs are longer. As for the 2 smaller studs in the back, I believe I either unscrewed them a bit to give the extra length or got them from from another motor. Sorry, I can't remember offhand.

If you couldnt find them couldnt you just find some threaded rods them cut to size, then run a die over the cut ends to clean up the start threads.
But I am not sure if the threads are one way on the bottom, the other way on the top.
This of course would be worse case scenario.

vise grips would work but try locking 2 nuts on the studs. that way you can use a wrench of ratchet first.

Also just an idea, could I take out the studs & then use harded bolts or is that taboo?
